A Peacock?

On the way to work this morning, I had to slow down to let a peacock cross the road.  Where did a peacock come from?  That was odd.  Do people keep peacocks as pets?
A couple of weeks ago there was a hot air balloon trying to land in a field beside the road as I went to work about 7:30 in the morning.  Strange stuff.  Just wanted to share.

There's this open field I drive by on my way to work (there's a house nearby), and I see peacocks every once in a while there. It's a boy peacock with his harem of ladies. :)

Seems like a lot of people see peacocks. I guess it's not that unusual.

I saw that peacock in somebody's yard a couple of weeks back. Didn't think he'd venture out into the road. These people need to have there land fenced in or something if they're gonna keep those things. Otherwise it's an accident waiting to happen.

I know lots of people ranch peacocks around here in rural areas. Maybe it is trendy for farmers or something. :) (And it makes me smile to think that there are places where people aren't used to hot air balloons landing wherever the heck they please.)

Do you see a lot of hot air balloons? That was my first time seeing one in a random area. We don't have a lot of flat land where I live.

a small town in the middle of North Carolina
It's fairly rural, but I don't think the peacock came from a farm unless he'd really wandered off.

my parents had one that lived in the woods behind their house- horrible noisy mean thing...totally beautiful though... it would get up in the tree and just belt noise...they called wildlife and animal control and I guess there is nothing you can do in Ohio about them...it is very odd though.
It finally went away of died after 2 years or so...
